In exercise of the powers conferred by Cl. (cc) of sub-section (2) of Section 48 of the Life Insurance Corporation Act, 1956 (31 of 1956), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules regulating certain terms and conditions of service of Class I Officers (other than the Managing Directors) of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, namely :-1. Short title, commencement and application.
2. Definitions.
- In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,-3. Conditions of Service of Class I Officers.
- Notwithstanding anything contained in the Staff Rules, the terms and conditions of service of Class I Officers relating to matters covered by these rules shall be regulated in accordance with the provisions hereinafter contained in these rules.4. Scales of pay of Class I Officers.
- The scales of pay of Class I Officers shall be as under :-Class I Officers :| 1.(i) ZonalManagers/Chief of Departments at Central Office | (a)Ordinary Scale :Rs.11,450-300-12,650 |

5. Dearness allowance.
| Basic Pay | Rates of dearnessallowance for every 4 points. |

| (ii) Rs. 4,801 to7,700 | 0.35% of Rs. 4,800plus 0.29% of basic pay in excess of Rs. 4,800. |
| (iii) Rs. 7,701 to8,200 | 0.35% of Rs. 4,800plus 0.29% of difference between Rs. 7,700 and Rs. 4,800 plus0.17% of basic pay in excess of Rs. 7,700. |
| (iv) Rs. 8,201 andabove | 0.35%of Rs. 4,800 plus0.29%of difference between Rs. 7,700 and Rs. 4,800 plus0.17%of difference between Rs. 8,200 and Rs. 7,700 plus0.09% of basic payin excess of Rs. 8,200 |
6. House Rent Allowance.
7. City Compensatory Allowance.
- The scales of city compensatory allowance payable to Class I Officers shall be as under :-| Place of Posting | Rate |
| (i)Cities with population exceeding 12 lakhs, Faridabad, Ghaziabad,Noida, and City in the State of Goa;Cities of Gurgaon,Vashi and Gandhinagar. | 4.5% of the basicpay subject to a maximum of Rs. 335 per month. |
| (ii) Cities withpopulation of 5 lakhs and above but not exceeding 12 lakhs, StateCapitals with population not exceeding 12 lakhs. Chandigarh,Mohali, Pondicherry, Port Blair and the city of Panchkula. | 3.5% of the basicpay subject to a maximum of Rs. 230 per month. |
2. Cities shall include their urban agglomeration.
8. Provident Fund.
9. Conveyance Allowance.
- Every Class I Officer, other than an officer who is in receipt of any conveyance allowance under any of the schemes of the Corporation, shall be paid conveyance allowance of Rs. 100 per month.10. Functional Allowance.

| (iii) Officersposted to Carrier Agents Branch as Sr. Branch Manager/BranchManager (I/C) | Rs. 200 per month. |
| Assistant BranchManager (Sales) | Rs. 150/- permonth |
| (iv) Officers inAudit and Inspection Deptt. Administrative Officers/Asst. Admn.Officers posted at Zonal Headquarter having touring duties to theminimum of 120 days in an year. | Rs. 250 per month |
| (v) EngineeringOfficer :-Asst. Engineeringand Asst. Executive Engineer when posted to project work site forsupervision of work for a minimum period of two weeks in a month. | Rs. 50 per month |
| Note.- Theabove functional allowance shall qualify neither for ProvidentFund nor Gratuity. |
11. Vehicle Advance and benefits.
