S.O. 188 (E), dated the 28th April, 1975. - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 412 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958), read with sub-rule (2) of rule 7 of the Control of [Shipping (Rates), Rules, 1949] [Now see the Merchant Shipping (Rates) Rules, 1977. infra.], continued in force by Cl. (a) of sub-section (3) of Section 461 of the said Act, and in supersession of all the previous notifications on the subject, the Central Government hereby fixes with effect from the 1st May, 1975, the rates mentioned in columns. (2) to (13) of the Schedule annexed hereto, as the rates which may be charged by any ship engaged in the coasting trade of India for the carriage of passengers from a port mentioned in column (1) thereof to any of the ports mentioned in the said columns (2) to (13) and from any of the said ports to a port mentioned in column (1).Explanation : - For the purpose of this notification.
(1)The rate for the carriage of a passenger in Cabin classes Deluxe A or Deluxe B shall be 50 per cent or 25 per cent respectively, over and above the rate for Cabin Class mentioned in the columns (2) to (13) of the said Schedule and the rate shall be rounded to the nearest five paise.
(2)A child between 3 and 12 shall be charged half the rate, rounded to the nearest five paise.
(3)The rate for the carriage of a passenger shall not include charges towards diet.The Schedule
