Section 2(3)(o) in The Life Insurance Corporation of India Development Officers (Revision of Certain Terms and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2009

(o)"service" means the period spent on duty as a Development Officer and leave including extraordinary leave which has been condoned under sub-rule (4) of Rule 69 of the staff rules;
