19. He also admits in cross-examination that he took steps to have the sale deed executed by the plaintiff and that he had not obtained any receipt for having paid Rs.700/- to the plaintiff. It is interesting to note that in the written statement filed by the defendant he would say that the transaction was effected in the presence of Kunhiraman and Kuzhichalil Kannan. However at the time of evidence he examined another Kunhiraman, whose name does not figure in the written statement at all to prove the transaction.
