6. Admission to the University.
(1)The University shall, subject to the provisions of this Act and the Statutes made thereunder be open to any persons:Provided that nothing in this section shall be deemed to require the University to admit to any course of study any person who does not meet the required academic standards for admission or to retain on the rolls of the University any person whose academic records are below the minimum standards required for the award of a degree or diploma or certificates or whose personal conduct is such as to inimical to the appropriate rights and privileges of other students and staff, or to admit to any course of study a large number of students that can be accommodated with the available facilities of the University and as determined by the Academic Council.(2)Subject to the provisions of sub-section (1) the Government may direct that the University shall reserve such number of seats as may be notified by the Government from time to time for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Fishermen Community, Other Backward Classes and for students from other States and Union Territories in India :Provided that no such person shall be entitled to be admitted to the University unless he or she meets the standards laid down by the University in respect of such candidates.(3)Nothing in sub-sections (1) and (2) prevents the University in admitting the students from other countries subject to the conditions stipulated by Government of India from time to time.
