Section 18(4) in The Punjab School Education Board Act, 1969
(4)The academic council shall be academic body of the Board and shall :-(i)lay down guidelines for the maintenance of academic standards in the affiliated institutions;(ii)approve the syllabi for various classes and examinations;(iii)lay down policy and procedure for the conduct of examinations; and(iv)advice the Board in the matters of granting affiliations and all other academic matters.
