Information sought:
The appellant sought information regarding grant given to various state universities.
Relevant facts emerging during hearing:
The appellant is not present. The appellant filed an RTI application dated 24.05.2013, seeking the above information. Registrar in his reply denied providing information stating that information sought is voluminous. The FAA did not dispose of first appeal.
The respondent stated that no such RTI application dt 27.05.2013 has been received in their office. The reply dt. 01.08.2013, referred to in the Commission's notice of hearing for the instant case, was in response to the RTI application dt.02.07.2013. He further stated that till date no first appeal or second appeal has been received. He stated that the appellant has filed 18 similar RTI applications regarding the grant made to various organisations of public and private sector.
Decision:
After hearing the respondent and on perusal of record, the Commission is of the view that no information was provided to the appellant as the public authority had not received the RTI application dt. 24.05.2013. Therefore, the Commission directs PIO to provide information strictly as per the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005, in response to the RTI application dt. 24.05.2013, to the appellant within four weeks of receipt of this order, under intimation to the Commission. A copy of the RTI application be sent to the PIO along with a copy of this order.
The appeal is disposed of accordingly.
