Section 22(1) in Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1961

(1)Where, on and after the date of the commencement of this Act, but before the notified date, any person has transferred any land held by sale, gift (other than gift made in contemplation of death), exchange, surrender, settlement or in any other manner whatsoever except by request [or has effected a partition of his holding or part thereof] [The words 'or has effected a partition of his holding or part thereof omitted by section 2(8)(b) of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Reduction of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1970 (Tamil Nadu Act 17 of 1979) which was deemed to have come into force on the 15th February 1970, and again inserted by section 4(b) of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Sixth Amendment Act, 1972 (Tamil Nadu Act 7 of 1974) which was deemed to have come into force on the 2nd October 1970.], the authorised officer with in whose jurisdiction such land, holding or the major part thereof situated may after notice to such person and other persons affected by such transfer [or partition] [The words 'or partition' were omitted by section 2(8)(a) of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Reduction of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1970 (Tamil Nadu Act 17 of 1970) and these words were substituted for the word `Transfer' by section 4(a) of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Sixth Amendment Act, 1972 (Tamil Nadu Act 7 of 1974).] and after such enquiry as he thinks fit to make [declare the transfer or partition to be void if he finds that the transfer or the partition, as the case may be] [Substituted for the words 'declare the transfer to be void if he finds that the transfer' by section 4(d) of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Sixth Amendment Act, 1972 (Tamil Nadu Act 7 of 1974).], defeats any of the provisions of this Act.
