47. Conferment of degrees, diploma, and other academic distinctions.
(1)The Board may, in consultation with the Academic Council and the Executive Council institute such degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions as may be prescribed under the relevant Statutes.(2)Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, the University shall have power to grant degrees, diplomas, honorary degrees and other academic distinctions in accordance with the provisions of this Act.(3)The Academic Council shall by an appropriate resolution or resolutions confer upon such persons, such degrees and award such diplomas and other academic distinctions and grant degree certificates as provided by the Statutes, who have passed an examination at different times and have been declared qualified by the University to receive those degrees or diplomas or certificates.(4)The convocations of the University for the conferment of honorary degree, degrees, diplomas, certificate and academic distinctions shall be held in such manner as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
