Seventeenth Loksabha > Title: Need to set up a 100 beded model ESI hospital in Puducherry.
SHRI VE. VAITHILINGAM (PUDUCHERRY): Hon. Speaker, Sir, from Puducherry near about 1.5 lakh workers are enrolled in the ESI Corporation. Most of the family members of these workers are also included in the three lakh beneficiaries. So, in total 4.5 lakh people are enrolled in the ESI Corporation. There is no direct hospital facility for the workers in the ESI Corporation. So, I would request the ESI Corporation to set up a 100-beded model hospital in Puducherry as then only the workers can get the facility of major operations like heart operation. At present, there is no operation facility and even the employees are not able to get reimbursement of their medical bills. Through hon. Speaker, I would request the hon. Minister to take steps to set up a hospital in Puducherry.
