Section 1 in The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993
1. Short title, extent and commencement.
(1)This Act may be called The Protection of Human Rights Act , 1993.(2)It extends to the whole of India:Provided that it shall apply to the State of Jammu and Kashmir only insofar as it pertains to the matters relatable to any of the entries enumerated in List I or List III in the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution as applicable to that State.(3)It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 28th day of September, 1993.
