Section 29(1) in The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, 1981
(1)The council shall, at its first meeting after each ordinary election to the council,-(i)elect one of its councillors to the Mayor; and(ii)elect one of its councillors other than the Mayor to be the Deputy Mayor.
