Need To Open Kendriya Vidyalay In North-Chennai Parliamentary Constituency. on 25 July, 2014
Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title: Need to open Kendriya Vidyalay in North-Chennai Parliamentary Constituency.
SHRI T.G. VENKATESH BABU (CHENNAI NORTH): Sir, this is regarding a long-pending demand from my North Chennai constituency to start a Kendriya Vidyalaya school. This constituency of mine consists of all classes of people, working in various Central and State Government organizations, defence forces, public sector undertakings, multinational companies, industrial establishments, and overall, a large number of below poverty line and downtrodden people live in my constituency.
Though this constituency forms a part of the Chennai Metropolitan City, Chennai has got two different parts – one is the glittering south and the dull north. So, the people living in the North Chennai are deprived of quality and affordable education, by not establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in my constituency. My constituency has a population of 30 lakhs. The Union Government has fixed a target of opening 500 new Kendriya Vidyalaya in the 12th Plan, that is, from 2012-17. However, no action seems to have been taken for opening of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in North Chennai.
Adequate lands are also available for setting up of a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Keeping in view the urgency and importance of the matter, I humbly urge upon the Union Government to take necessary steps to open at least two Kendriya Vidyalaya in my North Chennai Constituency in Tamil Nadu.
