- The Academic Council shall have the following powers and duties, namely.-(i)to exercise control over the academic policies of the University and shall be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of standards of instruction, education and evaluation in the University;(ii)to consider matters of general academic interest either on its own initiative or on a reference from the faculty of the University or the Board and to take appropriate action thereon;(iii)to recommend to the Board such Regulations as are consistent with this Act regarding the academic functioning of the University; and(iv)to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the Regulations.
