Section 3(1) in The Registration Act, 1977 (1920 A.D.)
(1)[The Government] [In sections 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 29, 36, 69 (2) and 91 the words 'the Government' Substituted for the words 'His Highness' by Act X of 1996.] shall appoint an officer to be the Inspector General of Registration for the Jammu and Kashmir State:Provided that [the Government] [In sections 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 29, 36, 69 (2) and 91 the words 'the Government' Substituted for the words 'His Highness' by Act X of 1996.] may, instead of making such appointment, direct that all or any of the powers and duties hereinafter conferred and imposed upon the Inspector General shall be exercised and performed by such officer or officers, and within such local limits, as [the Government] [In sections 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 29, 36, 69 (2) and 91 the words 'the Government' Substituted for the words 'His Highness' by Act X of 1996.] appoint in this behalf.
