J U D G M E N T
Petitioners are police constables. They have filed this writ petition seeking the following reliefs:
"a. Call for the records leading to Ext. P6 and P14 and quash Ext. P6 to the extent it denies revised rate of stipend to the Police Constable recruit trainees, at the rate of Rs. 6080/- i.e. the minimum of the revised scale of pay of Rs. 6080- 9830 for the period from 1.4.2005 to 28.2.2006 and quash Ext. P14 by the issue of a writ of certiorari or other appropriate writ, order or direction;
b. declare that the petitioners are entitled to be paid stipend at the revised rate of Rs. 6080/- per month, i.e the minimum of the revised scale of pay of the Police Constables, for the period of their training between 1.4.2005 and 28.2.2006 and for payment of the arrears of stipend due to them based on such revision;
c. Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction commanding the respondents to sanction the payment of stipend to recruit Police Constable trainees at the rate of Rs. 6080 per month, i.e the minimum of the revised scale of pay of Rs. 6080-9830 of the Police Constables consequent to pay revision ordered in Ext. P3 with effect from 1.4.05 and to disburse the arrears of stipend due to the petitioners, for the period they underwent training between 1.4.2005 and 28.2.2006 forthwith."
2. In the counter affidavit of the 2nd respondent in paragraph 5, it is stated thus:
"It is submitted that on the basis of the representation Sri. Nazim M., Havildar 4287, KAP 3rd Battalion, Government have been again addressed vide letter No. 12/1219/10 dated 06/12/10 to re-examine the matter and to accord sanction for the payment of stipend arrears @ Rs.6080/- per month with effect from 01/04/05 to 28/02/06, to recruit Police Constables who had undergone training prior to 01/03/06 and also requested to specify whether the arrears of stipend for the period from W.P(C) No. 38518 of 2010 -: 2 :- 01/04/05 to 28/02/06 may be credited to the GPF Account or be paid the stipend arrear in cash. Orders in this regard are till awaited from Government."
Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the Government may be directed to pass orders on the subject as requested by the 2nd respondent as stated in paragraph 5 of the counter affidavit.

Having heard both sides, I dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the 1st respondent to re-examine the matter as requested for by the 2nd respondent as stated in paragraph 5 of the counter affidavit, after affording an opportunity of being heard to the 1st petitioner, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment. It would be open to the petitioners to rely on Ext. P7, the applicability of which shall also be considered by the 1st respondent while passing orders.
