SHRI JAYADEV GALLA (GUNTUR): The unwavering approach of the Union Government to privatize RINL is opposed by 5 crore people of AP. We have been raising this issue since long and employees, workers, JAC of trade unions have been demanding that GOI desist from privatizing VSP. Even the State Legislative Assembly passed a Resolution on 20th May, 2021, opposing the decision of GOl to privatize VSP.
Selling away a company if it incurs losses is not panacea for any ills. Our approach has to be pragmatic, holistic, humane and every decision has to be taken keeping in mind the people who are directly and indirectly dependent on it. With firming of steel prices, RINL is doing better and also earned profits in the last financial year. In view of the above, I urge GOI to first withdraw tender issued and secondly give RINL one more opportunity to prove itself by providing it necessary coal linkages.
