KUMARI RAMYA HARIDAS (ALATHUR): There is a lot of attraction for the organic or “Jaiva” food items in the market and these food items get a better price. Now,many of the retail-traders are following this trend in the market and sell all items in the trade name “Jaiva” or organic. The number of cancer patients has increased in a short span and it has come out in studies that the main cause is the usage of pesticides and chemicals in agriculture farms. The threat is towards the future generation.
So, adequate legislations have to be made by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, so that original organic products only come to the market and only the farmers producing organic products get the benefit.
I urge upon the Union Government to take immediate action in this regard.
