Section 58(2) in The Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1973
(2)Any person wilfully and maliciously giving false information and so causing an arrest or a search to be made under this Act shall, upon conviction by a Court, be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to [ten thousand rupees] [ Substituted by Act 29 of 1993, Section 29, for " two thousand" (w.e.f. 8.1.1993).] or with both.
