44. Appoint of first Vice-Chancellor.
(1)Notwithstanding anything in this Act and the Statutes, the first Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Government and his salary and conditions of service shall also be fixed by it. He shall hold office for a term, fixed by the Government but not exceeding three years.
