- The Deputy Commissioner may order any person found to be guilty before him or wilfully erasing, removing or damaging a boundary or survey mark to pay such sum, not exceeding fifty rupees, for each mark so erased, removed or damaged as may be necessary to restore it, and to reward, if necessary, the person through whom the information was obtained. When such sum cannot be recovered, or if the offender cannot be discovered, the Deputy Commissioner shall restore the mark and recover the cost thereof from such of the Bhumidhars of Gaon Sabhas of co-terminous fields or villages, as the case may be, as he thinks fit.
