Seventeenth Loksabha an> Title: Laid statements correcting the reply to Unstarred Question No. 72 given on 21st June 2019 asked by Shri Kaushal Mishra, MP regarding 'Placement of NIFT students and giving reasons for delay in correcting the reply.
THE MINISTER OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND MINISTER OF TEXTILES (SHRIMATI SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI): I beg to make Statements (Hindi and English versions (i) correcting the reply to Unstarred Question No. 72 given on 21st June, 2019 asked by Shri Kaushal Kishore, MP regarding ‘Placement of NIFT Students’ and (ii) giving reasons for delay in correcting the reply.
STATEMENT AUGMENTING THE REPLY GIVEN TO PART (c) OF THE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.72 ASKED BY SHRI KAUSHAL KISHORE REGARDING ‘PLACEMENT OF NIFT STUDENTS’ WHICH WAS ANSWERED ON 21.06.2019 MINISTER OF TEXTILES (SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI) : Sir, I would like to make a statement to augment the reply given to part (c) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.72 answered by the Ministry of Textiles on 21st June, 2019 regarding ‘Placement of NIFT Students’.
The table in part (c) of the question gives campus placement data for the years 2015-16 to 2018-19. The placement percentage for 2018-19 indicated in the answer was the figure existing in June 2019. However, the campus placement for the year 2018-19 is still in process and likely to continue until September 2019. However, even in the interm period between June 2019 and 17th July 2019, there has been substantial improvement in figures for placement of NIFT students, as tabulated below :

“The campus placement for the academic year 2018-19 is still in process and is likely to continue until September 2019.” The agumentation/correction has necessitated this statement. Accordingly revised reply is laid on the Table of the House.

In Reply given to part (c ) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.72 answered by the Ministry of Textiles on 21st June, 2019 regarding ‘Placement of NIFT students’ a perception on falling NIFT campus placements created has later come to notice. Since, the campus placements were still ongoing during the period of reply and has substantially improved in the intervening period, the augmentation of the reply to the Lok Sabha Question No.72 answered on 21.06.2019 has taken some more time for an updation.
The delay is regretted.
