Section 289(8) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
(8)All candidates for commissioned rank, irrespective of their Branch, shall be [transferred] [Substituted by S.R.O. 361, dated 10th November, 1975.] at the earliest possible opportunity to sea-going ships where training and encouragement in the development of officer-like qualities shall be given. For the Executive Branch candidates, preliminary seamanship instruction as well as training in the duties of Officer of the Watch at sea and in harbour shall also be arranged.
