Prayer is for grant of anticipatory bail on behalf of petitioner- accused Tarsem Singh in case FIR No.90 dated 18.07.2014, under Sections 411, 414, 489-A, 489-B, 489-C, 489-D of the Indian Penal Code; Sections 15, 18, 21, 22, 61, 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (Section 29 of NDPS Act added subsequently); Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act and Section 14 of Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1952, registered with Police Station Sarai Amanat Khan, District Amritsar City.

Police has lodged the aforesaid FIR on the basis of secret information that 33 persons including the petitioner-accused have contacts with international smugglers and are indulging in smuggling of narcotic drugs, illegal weapons and fake currency smuggled from across the border using the fake SIM cards.

It was contended that vague and sweeping allegations have been made without there being any recovery or any incriminating material. It was further contended that similarly placed co-accused have been extended the benefit of anticipatory bail by this Court vide order P-2.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has joined the investigation and his custodial interrogation is no longer required.
