(d)to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge by multimedia and other information and communication technology and also conventional means, and to provide opportunities for education to a larger segment of the population and to promote the educational well being of the society in general, to encourage the distance education and alternate learning systems in conjunction with the conventional educational pattern of the country and to co-ordinate and determine the standards in such systems.
