Section 8(1)(b) in Shri Guru Ram Rai University Act, 2016

(b)To hold examinations for, and to institute, grant and confer degrees or other academic distinctions to , and on, persons, who-
(i)have pursued a course of study in the University or a constituent college or under a distance education system and Regional Centre/Study Centers or
(ii)have carried out research in the University or in a constituent college or under a distance education system;
