When the copying work is in arrears or for any other sufficient reason, the head of the office may, by general or special order, direct that the period between presentation and first attendance or the period between the date fixed for two consecutive attendances shall consist of a fixed number of days in excess of seven, and shall at the same time determine the period for which the order is to remain in force.
