Shri BHARTRUHARI MAHTAB (CUTTACK) : Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose""s birthplace Janakinath Bhawan at Cuttack, should be declared as a National Monument by the Government. The century old building is now being managed by Netaji Subhas Seva Sadan, a public Trust, which also operates a child care and maternity home in the same complex. Every day scores of people visit the birth place of Netaji and pay obeisance to Netaji and to his unique sacrifice which he offered for the freedom of this country.
In the era of socialism, the State has taken the onus upon itself to propogate the life and teachings of leaders of this country.
I urge upon the government to take immediate steps to declare Netaji birthplace - Janakinath Bhawan at Cuttack as a National Monument and maintain there a National Museum and archive, as is being done at Anand Bhawan, Allahadad and Teen Murthi Bhawan, New Delhi.
