The Director, Public Vehicles Department, [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.], may. in the case of a metered taxi, on application for issue of a Contract Carriage permit for such operation within the [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] region only as described in the explanation to this rule, endorse on that application that the said permit shall remain valid for journeys up to Howrah Railway Station only without any counter-signature by the Regional Transport Authority, Howrah or without payment of any additional fee therefor.Explanation. - The [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] region for the purpose of this rule means the portion of [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] region excluding those portion falling within the [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] Metropolitan District area.
