Section 10(1) in Gujarat District Planning Committees Rules, 2016
(1)The Returning officer shall appoint an officer of the Government or employee as the Presiding Officer for each polling station and such number of Polling Officers as may be deemed necessary to assist the Presiding Officer:Provided that, if a Polling Officer is absent from the polling station, the Presiding Officer may, with the approval of the Returning Officer, appoint any Government officer or employee as a Polling Officer.
