Section 16(1) in The U.P. Hindu Marriage Registration Rules, 1973
(1)The Hindu Marriage Registers and the indices referred to in Rule 17 shall, after six years of their completion, be consigned to, and preserved permanently in the Central Record Room at the headquarters of the registration district.
