Section 73 in Rules Under the Land and Revenue Regulation

73. Revenue of town land must not exceed annual value of the sit.

- Town land shall be settled at a fair and equitable revenue in accordance with the principles laid down in sections 16-19 of the Assam Land Revenue Re-assessment Act, (VIII of 1936). In no case shall it exceed the annual value of the site. This value will depend upon local circumstances and on competition and must be determined by enquiry. With the exception of short leases every lease of town lands shall be renewable from time to time on expiry at the option of the settlement holder, subject to his agreeing to pay the revenue, taxes cesses and rate which may be assessed or imposed in respect of the lands at the resettlement and these rules shall apply to every such renewal whether the expiring lease was or was not granted under them.
