SHRI T. GOVINDAN (KASARGOD): Thank you for the opportunity given to me. I would like to draw the attention of the Minister of Environment and Forest towards the CRZ Notification.
In this context, I recall the nation-wide struggle of the people of the coastal area and the fishermen organisation against the CRZ Notification. The Government of Kerala had also submitted some proposals. Considering the people’s agitation as also the recommendations made by the Kerala Government, the Ministry of Environment and Forest appointed Balakrishnan Committee which submitted its report. Unfortunately, the Government is not implementing the proposals contained in the report of the Committee, as a result the people of the coastal areas are agitating. I request the hon. Minister to implement the accepted amendments of the CRZ Notification.
