Section 2(15) in The Chennai City Corporation Building Rules, 1972

(15)"Height of building" means the height measured from the average level of the central line of the street on which the site abuts-

(a)in the case of pitched roof, up to the tie beam of the roof, and

(b)in the case of a flat roof, up to skyward surface of the roof;
