Section 32(1) in The Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules, 1959

(1)If the holder of a Petroleum Exploration License or Mining Lease or his transferee or assignee fails, without sufficient cause, to furnish the information or returns or acts in any manner in contravention of sub-rule (2) of rule 14, rule 19 ][rule 21] [ Inserted by G.S.R. 295(E), dated 1.4.2003.][and rule 24, or to allow any authorised person as provided in rule 32 to enter into and inspect any oil well or gas well or any drilled hole or information well in the process of drilling, he shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both.
