Section 54A(1) in The Tamil Nadu District Police Act, 1859
(1)The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette extend to any town all or any of the provisions of the Madras City Police Act, 1888, mentioned in the Schedule and may declare such extension to be subject to such modifications as they think fit.
