(2)The method of proving such a statement is for the accused to mark in the copy of the case-diary furnished to him the passage which has been specifically put to a witness in order to contradict him and then to obtain the formal evidence of the writer of the diary that the passage marked is a true extract from the statement recorded in the original case-diary, which he will have at the time with him for purposes of comparison.
