(ii)Formal leave will be granted by, the Principal on receipt of satisfactory written letter of excuse duly signed or countersigned by the father or authorised guardian of the student or by the Superintendent in the case of a boarder. The decision as to whether the excuse is satisfactory or not will lie with the Principal. Such permission will enable the student to be marked as on leave and not as present. Leave may at the Principal's discretion, be granted with retrospective effect if application be made within one month from the commencement of the absence.
