Section 59(2) in The Madurai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1971
(2)If a person sits or votes as a councillor [x x x] [Omitted by Tamil Nadu Act 22 of 1997.] before he has complied with the requirements of sub-section (1), he shall be liable in respect of each day on which he sits or votes, as the case may be, to a penalty of three hundred rupees to be recovered as arrears of tax under this Act.]
