Section 9(1) in Tamil Nadu Local Bodies (Election of Members to the District Planning Committee) Rules, 1999
(1)The Returning Officer may appoint as many Assistant Returning Officers as required for each section of a segment to assist the Returning Officer in the performances of all or any of his duties and functions:Provided that every such person shall be an officer of the Government not below the rank of Assistant Director or Deputy Collector.
