Section 9(1) in The Kerala Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2012
(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in the Kerala Money-Lenders Act, 1958 (35 of 1958),-(a)whoever contravenes the provisions of section 3 shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and also with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees;(b)whoever harasses any debtor mentally or physically or abets such harassment for recovery of any loan, shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year and also with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
