DR. RAJASHREE MALLICK (JAGATSINGHPUR): Hon. Speaker, Sir, I am very much grateful to you as I have been allowed to speak a few words during the ‘Zero Hour’. I have been elected as an MP from Jagatsinghpur District for the first time.
Sir, there is a need to start work on National Highway 55 from Cuttack to Naugaon. Our hon. Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik Ji is very keen on working for the development of Odisha. That is why he has proposed for the upgradation of this road and has given a proposal to the Central Government for providing necessary facilities on National Highway 55 from Cuttack to Naugaon. Earlier it was a State Highway with single road with a level crossing on it. Subsequently it was converted into National Highway 55. Due to heavy traffic, frequent accidents take place on this road. Also, owing to traffic congestion, ambulances do not have a free passage on it. An overbridge is also required to be constructed at the level crossing to minimise the mishaps. So, I would urge upon the Government to initiate work for providing necessary facilities on this road to make it a modern National Highway. Thank you, Sir.
