Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title:    Need to include Guptipara in Hoogly district of West Bengal in tourism map.

DR. RATNA DE (NAG) (HOOGHLY): Madam Speaker, Guptipara is commonly known as ‘Gupta Brindaban’ at the Balagarh Block of Hooghly District.

HON. SPEAKER: Dr. Ratna De, what is happening there? Your own Members are blocking you. What is this happening?

… (Interruptions)

HON. SPEAKER: Okay, now you can speak.

DR. RATNA DE (NAG): Madam, Guptipara commonly known as ‘Gupta Brindaban’ at the Balagarh Block of Hooghly District in West Bengal is situated within my Lok Sabha Constituency.

This place is a Centre of Excellence due to its cultural structure and spiritual evolution for centuries together. It is also the birth place of many eminent personalities in the field of education. The Ratha Yatra festival is another great festival of the year, and lakhs of people assemble here during the Rathha Yatra festival. The geographic area is congenial for visitors, and the natural beauty of the surroundings is picturesque.

A vast area of land, about 1,000 acres, is lying waste, which can be utilized for the tourism purpose so that overall development can take place, for example, construction of metal roads, houses, guest houses, archives and heritage centre for displaying the local produce and sale of the local products. This may lead to the growth of economy of the people at large, together with conservation of heritage and culture of our country.

Madam, through you, I would urge the hon. Minister to include Guptipara at Balagarh of Hooghly District in the West Bengal in Tourism Map.

HON. SPEAKER:

Shri Bhairon Prasad Mishra is permitted to associate with the issue raised by Dr. Ratna De (Nag).
