Facts:
1. Further to the Commission's order of even number dated 13 December 2011 vide which notice was issued to the CPIO to show cause why compensation should not be paid to the appellant for the physical and mental harassment undergone by him due to delay in furnishing of information by the CPIO and also to show cause why penalty should not be imposed upon the CPIO, matter was heard today. Respondent CPIO was present at Almora and made submissions. CPIO admitted that there was a delay in providing information to the appellant and also in releasing his pension benefits and accordingly the appellant had been paid interest along with 2% penalty interest for the period of delay.
Decision notice While the public authority has compensated the appellant for the delay in releasing his pensionary benefits, it cannot be gainsaid that the appellant has suffered acutely on account of physical and mental harassment for the delay in providing information to him in response to his RTI application for which, Commission awards compensation of Rs. 1000 to the appellant to be paid by the public authority within one month of receipt of the order.
