Section 749 in Punjab Jail Manual, 1996

749. Keys of the female enclosure. Lock of main entrance.

(1)The keys of the various locks in use in the female enclosure shall (other than the outer lock of the main entrance), be kept in possession of the female warder when she is present.
(2)Before leaving the female enclosure, the female warder shall lock all the prisoners into their sleeping wards or work-shops and having done so, shall lock the door of the main entrance and make the keys over to the Deputy Superintendent.Note. - When the matron leaves the ward, the main entrance door shall be locked on the outside by double locks. The key of one of these will be handed over, with her other keys, by the matron to the Deputy Superintendent. The other keys will remain by day in the custody of the Head Warder on duty and by night at the main gate.Note 2. - Paragraphs 741 to 749 not apply to the Ludhiana Female Jail which has a female Deputy Superintendent and a staff of female warders.
