Section 2(g) in The Registration Of Foreigners Rules, 1992
(g)"Registration Officer" means a Registration Officer appointed by the Central Government under rule 3 and includes an authority authorised in writing by a Registration Officer with the approval of the Central Government to perform the duties of the Registration Officer on his behalf;
