The petitioner, while working as Godown Attendant at State Warehouse,Budhlada with the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, was charge-sheeted vide memo dated 15.9.2011 (Annexure P-1) relating to causing loss on account of shortage of rice stock and shortage during the upgradation of stocks. The Punishing Authority, vide order dated 12.7.2016 (Annexure P-4) has ordered a recovery of a sum of Rs.29,73,782/- pursuant to the charge-sheet. The petitioner is stated to have filed a statutory appeal dated 9.8.2016 (Annexure P-5) before the Appellate Authority.

Although the prayer is for quashing of the order dated 12.7.2016 (Annexure P-4), however, an alternative prayer has been made for issuance of a direction to the Appellate Authority to decide the statutory appeal (P-5) within time frame.

Keeping in view the limited prayer of learned Counsel for the petitioner, the petition is disposed of with a direction to the Appellate Authority (respondent No.2) to decide the statutory appeal dated 9.8.2016 (P-5) within a period of six months from the receipt of certified copy of this order.

Disposed of accordingly.
