Regarding Strike Of The Ad Hoc Teachers And Professors Of Delhi University . on 12 December, 2019
Seventeenth Loksabha > Title: Regarding strike of the ad hoc teachers and professors of Delhi University .
SHRI B. MANICKAM TAGORE (VIRUDHUNAGAR): Thank you, Sir.
Sir, I would like to raise a very important issue regarding the ongoing strike of the Delhi University teachers. Around 5,000 ad hoc teachers are on strike because of a circular issued by the Delhi University Vice-Chancellor. The discrimination and the way the teachers have been treated is a very shameful thing.
Just now, the hon. HRD Minister mentioned in his speech that how India is going to be a vishwaguru. If this is the way the Government is going to treat gurus, how can we become a vishwaguru? That is the question. Around 5,000 ad hoc teachers and professors are on strike and the Government is not ready to hear them.
I request, through you, Sir, that they should be heard and their genuine demand should be met and they should be treated fairly because Delhi University is one of the premier institutions in India and we should respect the teachers. I request the hon. HRD Minister to intervene and help them.
Thank you so much, Sir.
HON. CHAIRPERSON :Shri DNV. Senthilkumar S. and Shri Saptagiri Ulaka are permitted to associate with the issue raised by Shri B. Manickam Tagore.
