Regarding Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. on 11 August, 2016
Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title: Regarding Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
SHRI K.N. RAMACHANDRAN (SRIPERUMBUDUR): Madam Speaker, I thank you for having given me time to pay my gratitude to the three great giant-leaders of the world - hon. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu ‘Amma’, hon. Prime Minister of our country and His Excellency, the President of the Russian Federation - for having jointly dedicated the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant Unit-I yesterday, through video-conferencing, to the Indo-Russian Friendship and Cooperation. It was a historical and remarkable event.
Madam, this has put Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu on the Nuclear Power Map of the world and took Tamil Nadu to newer heights among the nations of the world.
Madam, as we all know, there were many hurdles in the execution of this Ultra Mega Power Project. There were protests, demonstrations and stiff opposition to this project, but our Amma, with her decades of experience, withstood all the resistance that came in the way and saw to it that the country gets nuclear power from this unit.
Again, I would thank all of them a lot.
HON. SPEAKER: Shri Bhairon Prasad Mishra, Shrimati R. Vanaroja and Shrimati V. Sathyabama are permitted to associate with the issue raised by Shri K.N. Ramachandran.
