25. Powers and functions of the Academic Council
Subject to the provisions of this Act and the regulations, made thereunder, the powers and the functions of the Academic Council shall be;(a)to exercise control over the academic policies of the University and r be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of standards ofinstruction, education and evaluation in the University;(b)to consider matters of general academic interest either on its own initiative or on a reference from the faculty of the University or the Boardand to take appropriate action thereon;(c)to recommend to the Board, such regulations as are consistent with this Act regarding the academic functioning of the University includingdiscipline of students; and(d)to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the regulations.
